Hyundai IPO Strengths
The following points should be kept in mind:
HMIL is part of the Hyundai Motor Group, the world's third-largest auto OEM based on passenger vehicle sales in CY2023. HMC supports HMIL in many aspects of its operations. HMC’s R&D capabilities, coupled with information flow within the Hyundai Motor Group on emerging global trends and the latest customer preferences, enable HMIL to identify customer preferences in a timely fashion.
According to the CRISIL Report, HMIL has been the second-largest auto OEM in the Indian passenger vehicles market (regarding domestic sales volumes) since FY09. It has also been the most prominent auto OEM in India by sales volume in the mid-size SUV sub-segment since FY19.
The company has a diverse portfolio of PVs across powertrains and major PV segments. Its PV segments in India accounted for ~88% of the total PV sales volume in FY24.
Hyundai IPO Weaknesses
The following points should be kept in mind:
The company relies on a limited number of suppliers for parts and materials. Any interruption in supply could negatively impact their operations.
Two group companies, Kia Corporation and Kia India Private Limited, operate in similar business lines. This may lead to conflicts of interest, impacting HMIL’s business.
HMIL depends on its group company, Mobis India, to supply spare parts for after-sale services to the company and its dealers. It’s also dependent on Mobis to supply modular parts that it uses in the manufacturing process of PVs and parts, which constituted 18% of total parts and materials supplied in Q1FY25. Any failure by Mobis to supply these parts could adversely impact the company's business.
